Nick Craig wins the 2026 BMComposites Trophy held at Real Club Náutico de Palma.
This fourth edition of the event brought together 50 OK Dinghy and Snipe sailors, the largest turnout for the event to date.
The regatta delivered a strong weekend of racing in Palma Bay, with close competition across both fleets on Saturday. Sunday resulted in an early close due to wind conditions.
In the OK Dinghy fleet, five-time World Champion Nick Craig secured overall victory sailing the new BMComposites-designed OK Dinghy, which made its on-water debut at the event. The design demonstrated particularly strong downwind performance. Second place went to world number one Andy Davis, with Gavin Poullain completing the podium.
In the Snipe fleet, Víctor Pérez and Lucía Guerrero took the win, ahead of Jordi Triay and Lluís Mas, with Fernando Rita and Cristián Vidal finishing third.
Mark Branagh (CEO of BMComposites), was very encouraged by the performance of the new OK Dinghy design. He noted that the hull has been developed through a methodical process using CAD and CFD analysis, with a clear focus on optimising downwind performance, where the greatest gains can be made. He also highlighted the value of having Nick Craig test the prototype and receive such positive feedback, with Craig describing the design as “a real downwind weapon which made a significant difference on the final runs.”
Overall, the event combined competitive racing with a great atmosphere and continues to build momentum as a key early-season regatta.
