This year he competed in 3 regattas in Germany & Hungary . His results included a 5th place in 25 FDs in a 2-3 knot breeze and a third place in the pre-worlds regatta. 83 FDs fought out the Worlds on Lake Balaton , Hungary . Douglas placed 34th with his crew Viktor Boudantsev, a 3-time Russian Olympian. Their lack of training, just 10 days this year, worked against them costing up to 10 places a race
