Completely OK

The much awaited book on the OK Dinghy, titled, 'Completely OK' is nearly here. Currently in final proofing stages, it is expected to be available from Late May/Early June.

Most national OK associations have bought advance copies, so you should be able to get one through them. However there will also be an online buying facility set up, which will be linked through this site. More details on that later.

The cost will be GBP 20 per copy plus P&P costs. Copies will be available for purchase at the worlds in Germany and some other events. There will be discounts available for buying in bulk. More details will be published later.

At this stage I would like to thank everyone for helping with material, results and photos. I realise it is being published slightly later than expected, but that is mainly because it was proving very hard to track down results and articles. However, since November 2007, I have had more material in than in the whole of the previous year and it is now as complete as I think it can be. The plus side of waiting is that I had a large number of excellent photos from the 2007 World Championships to use, which has greatly enhanced the book.

Check back soon for more details on how to get hold of a copy.

Carbon Masts Rule Change - Update

Following recent news about the development of the OK Dinghy mast by certain builders involving (substantiated or otherwise) estimates of a high price increase because of expensive building methods and use of high modulus carbon fibre, the OK Technical Committee has been instructed to investigate and produce a new ruling in order to keep the cost of future masts at a comparable level with existing masts. OKDIA is committed to keeping the cost of the sailing the boat to as low a level as possible and regards this development as a threat to continuing growth. After seeking advice from mast builders and wider consultation, a rule change may be submitted in the coming weeks to try and keep the cost of a new carbon mast at a reasonable level. Manufacturers and sailors intending to build and purchase these masts should take note and contact OKDIA in case of doubt.
