Publication of ‘Completely OK – the history, techniques and sailors of the OK Dinghy’

The OK Dinghy International Association (OKDIA) is delighted to announce the publication of 'Completely OK - the history , techniques and sailors of the OK Dinghy'. Copies will shortly be available through various National OK Dinghy Associations or the main stockist listed below, or through this website. It will be officially launched during the 2008 OK Dinghy World Championships in Warnemunde, Germany in July.

The production of the book has been achieved through a unique co-operation between OKDIA, the National Associations and advertisers. The initial print and production costs have been entirely covered by advance orders by National OK Dinghy associations and advertisers.

From the first page, ‘Completely OK’ is a celebration of the classic single-handed OK Dinghy, which reached its half-century anniversary in 2007. If you have ever sailed an OK Dinghy, or want to learn how to sail one or want to learn how the experts sail them, then this is the ultimate OK Dinghy tome.

History

Completely OK’ outlines the complete history of the class since 1956 including results from all world championships, European championships, interdominion championships, major regattas and many national championships. It also covers the fascinating technical development of the class.

Techniques

Through articles written by many of today’s and yesterday’s top sailors, this section describes almost every aspect of getting or building a fast boat, fitting it out and tuning and sailing it. Hundreds of photos and diagrams complement the text to give the ultimate go-fast guide to OK Dinghy sailing.

Sailors

The story of the class is made up from the stories of the sailors themselves and through a series of interviews with sailors past and present as well as first hand accounts, ‘Completely OK’ is brought to a close with a fun look at the best OK Dinghy sailors of all time.

Vast in scope, ‘Completely OK’ is 208 pages in length, A4 format and includes more than 150,000 words, 1,100 photographs and diagrams, 3,500 results and more OK Dinghy lore than has ever been collected together in one place before. It is a must for all those who have ever sailed an OK Dinghy.

Authors include past world champions Karsten HItz, Thomas Jungblut, Roger Blasse, Nick Craig, Bo-Staffan Andersson and Jorgen Lindhardtsen and other personalities such as Sten Waldo, Paul Elvstrom, Mateusz Kusznierewicz, Ralph Roberts, Peter Montgomery, Harold Bennett and many, many more.
